God says one thing; the devil says another. Only you can decide, and whatever it is that you let shape the way you see yourself determines the sum total of all you will ever be. Before the Spirit begins doing new works in and through us, His job is to first bring us up to date on the actual realities that are already ours in the spiritual realm. There is no point in reinventing the light switch. All that is necessary is to flip the switch on and one can immediately enjoy all of the modern conveniences that accompany electric light. Imagine the absurdity of someone insisting that God would have to miraculously re-create the light-switch exclusively for him alone or he would refuse to use electric light. That’s how some Christians are today.
The Work of God’s Hands
They refuse to let the Holy Spirit ‘enlighten’ them as to the spiritual realities that God has already given to them. The Bible says, ~ “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God” (1Corinthians 2.12). From the beginning of creation, God’s intentions are clearly set forth. In the first chapter of the Bible, God is seen working and creating the entire universe. As soon as the work of creating the earth and cosmos is completed, immediately God gives everything to man. ~ “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth” (Genesis 1.26).
What is Man?
It is important to emphasize here that the Book of Genesis is not part of the Law of Moses. Moreover, the entire Bible, every one of the sixty-six books that comprise the Bible, all teach the fact that God prospers all of His children who seek and serve Him for “the abundance of all things.” The book of Deuteronomy states outrightly that God desires His children to serve him with joy and gladness ~ “… FOR THE ABUNDANCE OF ALL THINGS” (Deuteronomy 28.47). The idea that God wants His people to live in lack or in need is preposterous and in direct contradiction to the entire word of God, which states thousands of times God’s desire for His children is to reign over all things that He has created. ~ “But one testified in a certain place, saying: “What is man that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man that You take care of him? You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, and set him over the works of Your hands. You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing [that is] not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him” (Hebrews 2.6-8).
All Things have been Given
The arguments put forth to support the theory that God does not prosper His people are simplistic and without Biblical foundation. Those who espouse these false doctrines demonstrate their ignorance of scripture and their opposition to God and His word. The Bible says that God sent His only begotten1 Son to suffer and die on the cross, so that the Father could give “all2 things” to His children. In the book of Romans, we read ~ “He [God] who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8.32). It says that God “delivered him [Jesus] for us all”3 so that He could “freely give us all things.” God has gone to great trouble and has paid a great price so that He could freely give all things to His children. How it must hurt Him to see his children suffering the lack of things he has already given only because they have never learned how to receive what is theirs, what has already been bought and paid for with the precious blood of Jesus.
Spiritual Knowledge
The first step to receiving from God is to ‘know’ what has been freely given. One cannot have faith to receive something until that which is given has been plainly identified. To make sure we know with certainty all of the things that are ours, the Father has commissioned none other than the Holy Spirit. In 1Corinthians it is written ~ “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.” (1Corinthians 2.12). Jesus said, ‘It will always be done4 to you according your faith.’ So, it’s up to you. Who knows better what you are than your Creator? Are you the weak, sick, limited, hideous mouse the devil has made you out to be, or are you the child created in the image of God who is destined to reign with Him forever?
